Recovery and Mitigation 101
Dean A. Messing
The FEMA PROJECT IMPACT designation is an honor that any community should strive to achieve. This designation, not only brings federal funding, but also brings the right types of people and groups together to address the problems, and their potential solutions, that the community would not normally think of, or even try to remedy.
This program will hopefully help develop successful solutions and make your community more disaster resistant.
How to design and develop a PROJECT IMPACT community.
The presentation will describe how to design and develop a program that will be successful in obtaining a PROJECT IMPACT designation
Recovery and Mitigation 101
Damage Assessments have requirements that are needed at various stages of a disaster. There is preliminary damage estimates needed early on, after the disaster. More in depth damage estimates are needed before the Federal government becomes involved. Federal and State damage assessment Teams are sent out to further inspect and estimate the amount of damages incurred. If a Federal declaration is issued, then further estimates are completed in order to determine the type and amount of aid that will be given, and to whom.
Damage assessments are a very important part of getting the proper aid available after the disaster.
